GLOBAL SYSTEM MANAGER

Global System Manager provides the Global 2000 and 3000 ranges of business software and hundreds of industry-specific packages with an operating system and hardware-independent environment. You can select whatever system meets your current needs and be confident that your applications, data and investment in staff training can be transferred to new technologies as they emerge.

PORTABLE AND SCALABLE

Global System Manager is available on a uniquely wide range of hardware- from single-screen Windows PCs through Novell networks up to multi-user Unix computers supporting as many as 250 concurrent users or Windows NT client/server systems. Global applications and data are equally portable and scalable, and integrate seamlessly with industry-standard tools in every environment.

MULTI-TASKING ON EVERY SCREEN

Global System Manager offers a unique benefit - the facility to run multiple tasks concurrently on every screen, whether it's a PC workstation or a 'dumb' terminal. You can swap at the touch of a key or the click of a mouse between up to nine concurrent tasks. So you can leave lengthy reports printing in background and carry on with other work, or answer account enquiries in the middle of order entry without losing your place. Global multi-tasking delivers real increases in productivity.

YEAR 2000 COMPLIANT

Global System Manager is fully Year 2000 compliant, offering a coherent set of date subroutines for programmers and the facility for users to set a variable 'century start date' so 2 digit year numbers entered by operators are correctly interpreted. All dates between 1 January 1063 and 31 December 2699 are properly validated and stored in computational format.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

Global System Manager includes fast and effective data backup routines to ensure the physical integrity of your data. Multi-level password and authorisation checking guard against unauthorised access to the system as a whole, to individual modules or to sensitive functions within modules. Operators can be directed to specific functions at sign-on or to personalised menus of their own.

USER-FRIENDLY

Global System Manager and applications that run under it are designed for serious business use, and use a simple system of menus, clear commands and a consistent user interface to ensure maximum productivity. Global System Manager has an extensive set of utilities, including a powerful but friendly print spooler and comprehensive help facilities.

CLIENT/SERVER OPTIONS

Global System Manager offers a range of client/server options, delivering superior performance without requiring a huge investment in database server hardware. On Unix, Global runs in 'thin client' mode, while on Novell 'fat clients' handle most processing and servers manage data. On Windows NT, Global offers complete flexibility, supporting multiple servers, fat and thin clients on the same system and multi-user functionality on client workstations.
